Rofan PowerHybrid Technology
Operation in Diesel Mode
The magnetic clutch between Diesel engine and hydraulic pump is closed and the Diesel engine carries out 2 functions in one time:
Function 1:
The Diesel engine drives the hydraulic pump and the pump drives the powerful hydrostatic motor directly on the rear axle. This continuous power transmission is operating with nearly no loss in power transfer and enables the driver to maneuver the tractor to the nearest millimetre.
Function 2:
The Diesel engine drives the electric motor, which functions in this mode as a generator and – controlled by the power electronic – loads the energy storage (battery) in order to supply energy for the operation in electric mode.
In Diesel mode the Rofan PowerHybrid tractor has a drawbar pull of about 20 kN.
Operation in electric mode
The Diesel engine is switched off, the magnetic clutch to the hydraulic pump is open. Now the battery supplies the electricity to the electric motor, controlled by the power electronic. The electric motor now functions as a motor (not as a generator as in function 1) in electric mode and drives the hydraulic pump, which activates the hydrostatic drive at the rear axle. Under these circumstances also in the electric mode the tractor offers all advantages of a continuous power transmission, which secures a fine dosed handling of the tractor.
In electric mode a drawbar pull of about 19,5 kN will be reached.
